GROUNDSKEEPER:
 

Job Description: 

Grounds: maintains all exterior properties and related systems including fencing, pavement, sidewalks, landscaping, irrigation (sprinklers/trees), outdoor aesthetics (painting etc.), and herbicide/pesticide application.

Qualifications:

  • Clear and Valid Texas Driver's License
  • CDL or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Communication skills and appropriate knowledge base

Pay scale: Depends upon experience

Start Date: TBA

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Up keep of all outdoors grounds to create a cosmetically pleasing first impression of Westbrook ISD.

2. Maintain grounds by completing mowing, detailing, edging, and general upkeep of district grounds.

3. At times help move, install, assemble, and repair school furniture and playground equipment as needed.

4. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.  Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.

5. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

6. Maintain tools and equipment and perform routine/preventive maintenance of equipment. 

7. Read/report district owned water meters.

8. Must be CDL certified or willing to get CDL

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Small hand tools, power tools, mowing equipment, measuring tools, light truck, suburban, and bus.

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Frequent waling, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist/flexion/extension, and overhead reaching: frequent driving.

Environment: Working mainly outside on the physical grounds, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, chemicals, noise, vibration, and electrical at times.  Also, work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; and hours may be extended as needed. 

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress and multi-task at times.
